The Pranav Ashram of Canada recently honored a list of Canadians among whom were several Guyanese Canadians. The Ashram has a large following of Guyanese residing in Canada.
Plaques recognizing the work of community members were presented to Mrs. Indranie Gayadeen, a Philanthropist who has done considerable work among the poor and Ramesh Ramkalawan, Editor-Videographer of Pranav’s Ashram Television program “Reflections of Hinduism”. Several other non-Guyanese were also honored.
Cheques were also handed out to this year’s Student Scholarship Awardees to Amanda Persaud (Sugrim Kissoon Annual Scholarship) and Michael Surajpaul (Dhaman Kissoon Annual Scholarship) and others.
The banquet was well attended by community supporters, Ashram members as well as
supporters from fraternal organisations, political parties, and the professional and business community. Children of the Ashram entertained the large audience with various pieces of cultural items.
